Shit… I hate losing… and my speech just lost the competition.
I felt the Touch Of Insignificance…
Although I did promise delivery, and that was flawless,
I delivered…
Unfortunately I made some camera mistakes and didn’t capture good video footage. That’s twice I missed great speeches, and in the Public Speaking Industry, video footage is a valuable commodity.
Clients looking for my Public Speaking Voice will want to see if I’m worth my price tag… and people online need to hear my message.
So what is my message???
Well that’s what I want to share with videos!!!
The message in my competition speech was handed down to me from my grandma,
It went like this…
One time I was really embarrassed by my friends. I went home and told my aging grandma (who lived to be 98 years old) about my classmates making me feel terrible. When I stopped moping, grandma got a funny look on her face,”Devin,” she groaned in a high pitched voice, “At my age you learn something,”
I was like, “What grandma??”
“Well Devin,” she smiled, scrunching her nose, “It doesn’t matter all the people who embarrassed me, or who didn’t like me… They’re all dead now!!!”
You can check the speech on hubpages.com…
Thing is…
It is embarrassing to lose a speaking competition. And I didn’t blow my speech. In fact, I spent hours upon hours rehearsing my speech a thousand times. Then I sat my poor girl Jody lea on the couch to evaluate, evaluate, and evaluate again.
I wanted to win, had the mindset of winner, and when my turn came up, I spoke to my audience and received clapping laughter.
Yet I lost…
What a feeling of insignificance, and I don’t care how many compliments I got on my speech…
It lost…
Insignificance…
Then I come home to my online world… 2000 and some twitter followers who don’t know I exist, 115 likes on my Facebook fan page, and not enough hits on this site to pay the hosting fee!!
Again…
Insignificance…
Now before you start thinking, Whoa is me,
I’m not a whoa kind of guy…
Watch me rise friends… People may not know who I am, but they will know who I am becoming, because there is another message I have inside me…
Insignificant… Thats why people band together, become reborn, or fall subject to energy vampires, negative media, stressful lives, and too many bills with too little pay,
But here I am, doing it on my own…
I don’t have a band. I don’t have a team. I have my girl Jody Lea to watch my back, and most nights I have trouble falling asleep because I’m so excited. Then I get overwhelmed, take days off, and get things back on track, because one day I will get to stand up, “You know,” I will smile, “I am really happy that I got to live my dream!”
And I know that people are going to start listening, because I spend all my time doing what other people wish they could do.
And what is it that other people wish they could do???
Well, what is it that you wish you could do??
What is it that you wish you had, would have done in hindsight, or should do in the future??
And if you’re thinking, “I don’t really know,”
OR,
“I’m not sure,”
OR,
“I wish for a lot of things…”
I say, “Good luck, enjoy yourself,”
Again I ask, “What is it that you wish you could do???”
Here’s my answer… If your doing what you wish you could do…
I’m not the person for you…
But if you know you are capable of doing more, or you are scared to see…
I say hop aboard and follow me…
We will experience the touch of insignificance together, as we hold our heads high, and even though we won’t…
We know its ok to cry!!!!
Sincerely,
